BE A LIFE LONG LEARNER

I am a huge fan of Warren Buffett, the third richest person in the world. I follow him religiously. Warren Buffett, aged 87, himself revealed his secret to success is he reads 500 pages daily.  I know he is an extraordinary man. I am not saying you to read like him, but to learn from him. He, at this age, gives so much importance to learning, so why can't we?

A life long learner means a person who keeps himself updated and focus on continuously improving himself, no matter of his age, background or educational qualification. The KEY to success is to Keep Yourself Updated.

Let me explain you with an example. It has been 19 years since the evolution of smart phones. People are learning to use it to their advantage, it means they are updating themselves with new generation technologies. There are a lot a developments going on in IT sector. Entrepreneurs are implementing it to grow their businesses.

Here are some ways you can do to keep yourself updated:

  • Learning is not just related to your academical education but here learning is in every aspect of life. Learn from your mistakes. It may be full of regrets and failure. What it's use if you repeat the mistakes over again. Instead learn from your mistake and commit yourself that you are not going to repeat it again.

  • You should also learn from the mistakes of others at nil cost. Analyse others, try to put yourself in others shoes, think what they might do instead. Sharing with others, at least with your family and friends, whatever mistakes you have been done and whatever you learn from it, can save them also from repeating it.

  • Commit yourself to learn at least one single new thing daily. Today, we have the most powerful tool in our hand and that is a mobile phone with an Internet connection. So, why not use it to learn something new daily. You can subscribe to wikipedia's "Featured Article" list. It mails you a new article daily. So, start now, be curios to learn something new.

  • We should also try reading "Non Fictional Books" , books based on some other person's life, you can get inspired from it, you can get to learn from experience of others and many more things.

I recently met with a women, Rohini Kondvikar, who started her CA journey at the age of 40. You might asking "Is she mad or what?", "Do some one studies at this age?", "What is she going to get from doing it now?" .
This shows her Passion, her dream to become a Chartered Accountant in her life. Despite of the age, despite of all the hurdles in her life, she is on her way of fulfilling her dreams. Many people get this opportunity to make their dreams come true, but with the fear of failure, fear of others opinion, they gave up. She is a true inspirational to me and you, that there is no age limit to learning and to fulfil ones dream.

You might be wondering, why am I stressing so much on learning. There are many benefits of it such as:

  • It helps you to grow in your life. Growth is all about continuous development and improvements. So, improve your life by improving your learning skills.
  • Learning also helps you to improves your quality of life. Try to analyse your life, hat you have done so far, what you have achieved and lost and figure it out your contribution to it.
  • It will helps you to make your network more vast and stronger. Share your inspiring stories with others, share your learning through social media, showcasing yourself will make people like you, be a role model to others.
  • It will make your mind sharp, increases your critical thinking ability. Read newspaper daily. Be aware of your mental processes. Make yourself more knowledgeable than yesterday.
  • Competition has increased so much nowadays. To compete with others and to continue the race you have to a step ahead than others, which can only be possible through keeping yourself updating and well award.
Being an Investor, I must say this, the best investment you can make is to invest in yourself. Try to be a role model to others, your children, siblings, friends. Commit yourself to learn something new everyday. Do Self Analysis, find out your flaws and work upon it.

At the end I would like to say, life is like a business, if you cannot keep it updating, it will not generate higher returns.

So, Learn Long, Live Long,

Thanks.
